Sheen Windows Ltd has been a long standing customer of FrameXpress for many years, so when the owner contacted Mark Westbrook, Managing Director to ask for a little support on a special project, the entire team put themselves into making sure it would succeed.
The Telford based companies are working alongside a great many other local businesses, who have come together to help bring local boy Matthew Cooper back home after 18 months in hospital.
As local trades people came together with the DIY SOS team, work has finally begun on a nine-day project to transform Mathew’s home. Having been diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer back in August 2015, Matthew has been receiving chemotherapy treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Since his discharge at the end of last year, he has been living in rented accommodation with his parents until the house could be adapted to meet his new needs.
This week the FrameXpress team have been busy delivering a number of products for the project, that will help to provide a safe and comfortable environment for Matthew to live in.
The company has supplied windows and French doors in anthracite grey for the exterior of the property, with white internal finishes to complement the new decor. The team has also produced a stable door and bifold doors for safety and easy access in the house. A strong Composite door has also been manufactured to provide Matthew and his family with the best security possible.
Paul Crossley, Managing Director at Sheen Windows, is familiar with the safety options available in the range and this week has started fitting some of the windows and doors for the challenge.
The BBC originally sent out an appeal for local tradespeople and suppliers around the Telford area to offer products, services and time in order to help finish this latest project.
Mark Westbrook comments, “To be able to help on this DIY SOS challenge has given the whole team a real boost. It’s been all systems go and it is so rewarding to be able to give something so important and good back to people – we are flattered and very proud that Paul asked us to be a part of it all. Contributing to this event has required all hands on deck, as the house needs to be carefully adapted for Matthew.
Our team has been delivering to site with many people prepared to work after hours to make sure we can complete everything within the nine-day timescale. Our suppliers have also been fantastic and supported the cause by providing essentials needed to make the products and we are so grateful to them all.
Getting Matthew home and helping him on his road to recovery, is what it’s all about for everyone.”
Paul Crossley commented: “This show really brings out an extraordinary community spirit and the levels of generosity from local companies is just fantastic. It’s great to be part of a team of people all pulling together to make incredible improvements to the lives of others.”
